...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead / Bellavista / The Amber Light
25.05.08 Zakk, Düsseldorf
Finally, summer seems to come around. It was such a nice, sunny Sunday evening that I missed The Amber Light from Wiesbaden completely preferring to have a drink in the beer garden of the Zakk.Next up were Bellavista from San Francisco whose indie rock at times reminded me of The Jesus And Mary Chain. For their last song they were joined on stage by two members from Trail Of Dead which thus provided a good transition to the main attraction of the evening.
Currently ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead are a six piece with the usual two drum kits and a wall of sound that blows you away. It was quite surprising that tonight's show featured so many old songs opening and ending with two tracks from their debut and comprising five songs from Madonna. They only played one song from their latest album So Divided but also one brand new tune called Bells. But the best moments of a really good show were the two tracks from Worlds Apart, my favourite Trail Of Dead album so far, and Caterwaul and Will You Smile Again? got the loudest cheers from the crowd.
The band finished their 90 minute set with Mistakes & Regrets and Richter Scale Madness as encores and left everyone pleased but with buzzing ears.
