Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan (Posted Date: 07 Jun 2008, 13:47)

Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan

03.06.08 Mousonturm, Frankfurt

Mark Lanegan seems to be one of the hardest working men in rock nowadays.
He just completed a European and North American tour with The Gutter Twins and instead of relaxing a bit before they hit the road again later this summer he returns to Europe to play some shows with former Belle And Sebastian member Isobel Campbell to promote their second collaboration Sunday At Devil Dirt.
Two years ago Campbell had to sing her Ballad Of The Broken Seas alone, but now she brings along the man in black and his dark voice for just one German show.
The venue is a modern theatre so the sound is excellent (although Isobel doesn't semm to be satisfied as she is nearly arguing with the sound guy throughout the gig) and the wonderful blue lights also create a perfect sinister atmosphere. The audience appreciates that and remains silent during the songs only to burst out into loud applause afterwards.
After 80 minutes in which Isobel changes from cello to keyboards and various percussion instruments while Mark holds on tighly to his mic stand the show is over.
